COVID-19 Update 11/23

Dear Carey Family members,

This letter is to notify you that two individuals at Carey High School have been determined by the Wyandot County Health Department to be positive COVID-19 cases. We work with Wyandot County Public Health to quickly identify, notify, and quarantine any students or staff who may have come into close contact with the positive case and who may be at risk of getting sick. By the completion of the day (November 23rd), school officials have made personal contact with all individuals who were identified as being a close contact.

If you did not receive a call from the school nurse or school administrator on November 23, 2020, your child was not directly impacted by this positive case, and no action is required by you.

This letter is a required notification per Ohio’s health orders. This letter was referenced in our public communication sent to all families via email and District website on November 23, 2020.

PLEASE NOTE: SINCE THE BEGINNING OF THE SCHOOL YEAR, THERE HAVE BEEN ELEVEN (11) POSITIVE OR PRESUMED POSITIVE COVID CASES IN THE SCHOOL BUILDINGS. THIS ACCOUNTS FOR 1.33% OF THE ENTIRE STUDENT POPULATION. THE CASES HAVE BEEN TRACED BACK TO FAMILY CONTACTS, NOT CONTACTS AT THE SCHOOL BUILDING.

Prevent Further Spread:

The following guidelines will help to prevent further spread of illness at our school:

  • Notify the school if your child is tested for or diagnosed with COVID-19.

  • Notify the school if your child had contact with someone who you know was diagnosed with COVID-19.

  • Keep students home from school if they are sick.

  • Encourage good habits: frequent handwashing, covering coughs and sneezes, use of face coverings in public and staying home as much as possible.

Thank you for your attention to this important matter. If you have questions, please contact your child’s school.

Sincerely,

Michael Wank

Superintendent
