Carey Schools, in conjunction with our community partners, will be conducting a full-scale active shooter exercise on Monday, March 16, 2026. This is scheduled for a day that students are not in school, and is being coordinated by our School Resource Officer, Deputy Ryan McKinnon.
We believe it’s important to inform our parents/guardians, staff, and community partners of the planned exercise well in advance, and clarify that it is a training event and not a real emergency. Early communication will help reduce any confusion or concern and reinforce our ongoing preparedness work.
We will send this reminder out a couple more times prior to the training exercise so that you are well aware of what is going on. We will also post signs around the school campus that day reminding everyone that we are conducting the training exercise. It’s our goal to conduct this training in a professional manner without causing alarm to the students or community.
