In an effort to ensure the safety of students and staff, we will be implementing new safety procedures for visitors of the school for the 2018-2019 school year. Here are the things you need to know if you will be visiting the school:
If you have an appointment, please ring the buzzer at the front main door and let the office staff know your name and who you are with and your reason for being at the school. Teachers will be notifying the office staff ahead of time so they know that you are coming.
If you do not have an appointment and are coming to the school building, please know that the procedure below is set into place to treat everyone equally and ensure the safety of all students and staff members. No one will be exempt from this, as we have to be fair to everyone.
You will need to ring the buzzer and state who you are and your reason for being there.
The office staff will buzz you into the first set of doors only. There, you will find all of our forms, hanging on the wall, that you can pick up. You will find a table that you can use to fill out forms, and a lock box to drop off forms, money etc. There will be envelopes, paper and sticky notes available to make notes for the office staff if necessary. If you are dropping off medications, book bags, lunch bags, etc. you will be instructed to leave those items on the table, or under the table if large bags, with the student’s name on them. If you are picking up your student for an appointment, you will be instructed to wait in the vestibule until your child arrives in the office and then they will be released to you. If your child is in grades Preschool through Grade 5, there will be a sheet on the table for you to sign them in or out.
We thank you for your patience, time and understanding as we try to make Carey Schools a safer place for our students and staff.
